Alley Cat Yarns offers colour-rich hand-dyed yarns, including collections of Canadian and breed-specific wools, to creators for use in: hand or machine knitting, crocheting, weaving, and other fibre arts. Melissa personally dyes all yarns in-house with professional wash-fast acid dyes with attention to resource management such as: rainwater collection and use, cool processing, and low water table dyeing techniques. You'll find a range of yarn types at Alley Cat Yarns to suit your needs, from highly processed to completely natural, with all sorts of variations in: staple length, felting ability, geographical origin, micron count, spinning style, insulation level, breed or species, and fibre blend.

Check back often to see new batches of Canadian yarn from various breeds and milled to various weights and specifications.

“The Canadian Wool Collective helps to build a sustainable Canadian wool economy that connects wool producers and end users. I experience infrastructure challenges as a yarn dyer and retailer sourcing Canadian wool, and appreciate the work the Collective does to build up that infrastructure.”
