Born of a love of knitting and a desire to promote environmentally-responsible making, the Leystone Yarn Shop began in 2017 as Phoenix Fibre Arts Studio. In 2020, we made the leap and moved from Ottawa to Luskville, QC, establishing Fermes Leystone Farms, and got our first sheep.

Clearly identifiable by the beautiful hillside vineyard, Leystone is home to a sweet flock of Southdown Babydoll sheep, a handful of Icelandic, Gotland, and BFL mixed-breed sheep, and their guardian llama Loretta. We also have over 17 varieties of chickens (rainbow eggs, anyone?), and more than a million honey bees. With a focus on practices that nurture the land, animals, and community, Leystone creates, cultivates, and curates products and experiences that delight and inspire.

We were thrilled to launch our own Leystone Southdown yarn, and Garden Love Wool Pellets™ in 2023, and we were so grateful for the warm reception given to these new products. In addition to our farm yarn, wool pellets, and honey, Leystone Farms also has a beautifully curated collection of our favourite natural and recycled yarns, quality knitting needles and accessories.

Natural, local wool is part of the climate solution. We are thrilled to offer 100% grown and milled certified products — and to work with producers and consumers locally and across the country to expand the offering of wool products for makers, gardeners, and industry.
