This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program, and applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment and must be able to legally work in Canada.
Overview: The Canadian Wool Collective (CWC) is a grassroots organization working to connect end users with Canadian wool products direct from Canadian Farms, and to provide resources for sheep farmers & producers.We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to aid us to enhance the presence of the CWC in the Canadian Wool Industry. You will be responsible for working with our team to build our brand, drive community and donor engagement, and promote our certification program.
Duties:
Contact organizations and businesses with the aim of promoting the Canadian Wool Collective
Distribute information and promotional materials to stakeholders
Assist potential certified partners with their applications
Provide follow up phone calls and emails to businesses regarding outstanding supplementary documentation/completion of partner profiles
Provide email reminders for certification renewals
Conduct market research on topics such as: wool information, sheep farm information
Develop surveys for stakeholders
Draft newsletters/social media posts
Create videos and other content for social media and website
Provide community outreach for coffee houses and contacts for community wool events and other duties as required.
Job Requirements:
This is primarily a remote position. The CWC is based in Manitoba with Board Members located across the country. Successful candidate may meet in person with Board Members periodically throughout the term depending on location.
Supervision will be via weekly Zoom meetings with members of the Board and executive members.
Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the wool industry in Canada is an asset.
Requires flexible hours and days with some evening online meetings.
Be competent in computer software/applications such as Word, Excel, Google drive and virtual meeting software (Zoom and/or Google Meet) + social media platforms, Canva.
Be experienced with or willing to learn computer programs such as Squarespace
Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English. French skills would be an asset
Skills
Able to work independently and be self-motivated
Strong interpersonal communication skills via phone and email
Able to collaborate and communicate with committees of volunteers
Excellent writing, storytelling, and editing skills
Demonstrates creative and innovative thinking
Technical skills in media and content creation
Must be permitted to work in Canada and be between the ages of 18 and 30. The successful applicant must have access to their own (phone), computer and a reliable internet connection.
